Motive Power:

#51 Baldwin DS-4-4-6(660 HP). Builder's number 73042, built in November, 1946.
First Baldwin diesel manufactured under license in Canada, built for the Crows
Nest Pass Coal Company- Coal Creek, British Columbia, running on the Morrissey,
Fernie & Michel Rwy as #1. Sold to Delta Alaska Terminal RY, running as their #1,
then sold to the principal owners of the SNCT. Although fired up and moved around,
(Pier 27 vicinity), as far as is known, it was never used in any actual revenue
work on the SNCT. Was painted as "North Coast Lines" #51 for another operation.
As NCL #51, it had a Northern Pacific style "monad", which legal action forced
them to remove (all lettering and monad were in white). Subsequently repainted
in Seattle & North Coast colors, but no lettering was added to the hood. It
displayed SNCT 51 in yellow on the cab sides. Was stored in Tacoma, Washington,
possibly at the Continental Grain site where it, (nobody has ever confirmed this),
may have seen some revenue use. It was sold and moved to the Chelatchie Prairie RR,
where it arrived in SNCT paint in November of 1982. At some time, the DS had been
"hot rodded". (The four original exhaust stacks being replaced with six straight stacks.)
It was used by the Chelatchie Prairie for approximately two years, allegedly this was
(confirmation?) in exchange for storage of the locomotive. While on the CP, it
remained in SNCT paint. It was eventually sold to the Napa Valley Wine Train as
their #51, and later went to the Feather River Rail Society. I recall a for sale
advertisement, (Napa Valley? FRRHS?), but 51 has seemingly disappeared.

#52 EMD SW-1 Port Angeles switcher (Ex- Milw 869; nee 956; nee 1619).
After its use on the SNCT, the #52 saw use during the brief operation of
the Olympic Railroad. Used in the Seattle area, late 1997, in some local
television station commercials. Currently owned by the Ballard Terminal
Railroad, numbered 98 and painted in the local high school's colors.

#55 EMD SW-1200. Primarily used at Pier 27 & Whatcom Yard, Seattle.
(Ex- Milw 614; nee 1637.) Built in January of 1954. First SW-1200
off the EMD assembly line. Seen at Coast Engine & Equipment Company
("CEECO") in Tacoma, Washington, cannibalized for parts. Since then
reassembled and sold. (Sorry, I cannot locate my notes on where it went.)

#56 EMD SW-1200. Primarily used as a Port Townsend switcher and on work trains.
(Ex-Milw 648; nee 2043.) Seen at Coast Engine & Equipment Company ("CEECO")
in Tacoma, Washington, cannibalized for parts. Has since been reassembled
and sold. (Sorry, I cannot locate my notes on where it went.)

For the following "F" units information, shortly after their delivery,
the late Don Dietrich and I visited Pier 27, to look them over. At that time
we checked and recorded their builder plate information. These had all been
sold by Burlington Northern Railroad, from their dead line at Auburn Yard,
Washington, to Joseph Simon & Sons, (scrappers), of Tacoma, Washington.
Thereafter, they were leased to the Seattle & North Coast.

#101 EMD F-7A Road power. Maintenance base, Bayside Yard, Port Angeles.
EMD b/n 11066 10/1950 as GN 274B, then BN 610. After use on SNCT
was sold to private owner and stored at Mineral, Washington, at the shops
of the Mount Rainier Scenic Railway. Sold in late 1997 to Doyle McCormack.
Renumbered to original 274 and moved to Portland, Oregon, for refurbishing.
Repainted as Great Northern #274. Moved to the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad,
isolated there due to flood washouts of track, it remains operational to this day.

#102 EMD F-7A Road power. Maintenance base, Bayside Yard, Port Angeles.
EMD b/n 17852 01/1953 as GN 464A, then BN 684. After use on SNCT
was sold. Several owners since then. Still exists.

#103 EMD F-7A Road Power. Maintenance base, Bayside Yard, Port Angeles.
EMD b/n 11073 10/1950 as GN 364A, then BN 9726, then 2nd 704.
Post- SNCT was sold. Several owners since then. Still exists.

Note: There are rumors the SNCT had an ex-NP EMD "B" unit.
Such are indeed just unfortunate rumors, and completely false.

#502 EMD SD-9. Leased at start up by SNCT from Milwaukee Road. (Nee 531; nee 2225)
(Remained in MILW colors, never painted for the SNCT.) Returned to owner CMSt.P&P RR,
Spring 1981, after the F units arrived on SNCT property. Scrapped May of 1984.

Passenger Equipment:

"Dungeness River". I never saw it numbered, while SNCT. Budd Coach- Buffet Lounge.
Ex-Amtrak #3820. Originally was Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway #1388.

"Mount Olympus". 4-1 Sleeper-Buffet/Lounge-Observation car. Not numbered by the SNCT.
Ex-Solano Railcar, nee-CBQ #483, nee-CB&Q "Minneapolis Club". Built June 1946 by
Pullman Standard. Originally painted and lettered for use on Northern Pacific's
North Coast Limited, sublettered for its actual owner, Chicago, Burlingon & Quincy RR.

Freight & Maintenance-Of-Way Equipment

Box cars:

1000- 1099. 100 Cars leased from owner ITEL Corporation. They were painted brown
with white lettering. Originally built for and operated by the McCloud River RR.

1100-1299. 200 cars leased from owner BRAE Corporation. Painted SNCT green and
yellow. These cars were brand new, built by Pullman-Standard at Birmingham, AL.

Steel cupola cabooses:

Ex-MILW 991604. Repainted to SNCT green and yellow. Never re-lettered or numbered
for the SNCT. This car was damaged in a derailment. Currently serving as a yard
office for Cascade Bark, (11 Washington Harbor Road), east side of Sequim.

Ex- MILW 991608. Remained in MILW paint and lettering. Currently on display
at Fawn Hill Farm, Agnew. (Note: this is on private property! Secure property
owner's permission before you enter!)

(Note: Many years ago a former MILW and SNCT employee informed me these
two cabooses were never actually owned by the SNCT. And their repainting
of 991604 upset the MILW, as it was never unauthorized by that owner.)

Maintenance-of-way equipment:

#3 Rail operated 25 ton crane. ex-United States Navy.

X-983 ex-MILW track department car. Originally a 40' MILW (1925?) single-cheathed
composite end box car. Transferred to the track department, converted into a bunk car.
Painted in MILW steel gang gray. On the SNCT, it remained in MILW gray paint and lettering.

X-1211 ex-MILW tool storage car. Originally MILW 712901. 40' MILW single sheathed
composite end boxcar built by Bettendorf in 1925 as part of a series of 1000 cars.
Originally used for lumber loading (retained its end door for long timbers). Transferred
to steel gang use, then to the track department as a tool storage car. Remained
in MILW track department oxide red color and lettering.

X-908160 Fuel oil bunker car. Converted from a former MILW steam locomotive tender.

X-922226 ex-MILW. M-O-W crane flat car. Remained in Milw paint and lettering.
Was used by SNCT to carry a cleated track-style crane for the track department.

Other:

55720 ex-MILW. A 50'6" XL rib-side DF2 boxcar detrucked and used for storage at
Pier 27 in Seattle. Cars numbered 55000-55699 came from 40'6" XM rib-side boxcars,
rebuilt during 1965-66 by adding 10 feet taken from boxcar series 21188-28559.

Barges MT-20 and MT-21. Ex- Milwaukee Terminal Railway Company of same number.
